Jennifer Allen, MD
For the last five years has served as one of the lead champions for advance care planning and goals of care conversations in the network as a member of the LVHN advance care planning steering committee with membership in the serious illness program collaborative. Chairs the OACIS quality and education committees and remains a member of the adult internal medicine peer review committee. Prior to current roles functioned as a palliative medicine consulting physician and the LVHN Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship director. In addition, served as a member of the internal medicine clinical competency and ethics committees. Was a Harvard Medical School Center for Palliative Care Faculty Scholar and obtained the Lehigh University executive certificate in physician leadership. Has published on palliative care impact on resource utilization in patients undergoing therapeutic hypothermia and authored two book chapters on palliative care in the in the ICU and methadone versus morphine as first line opioid in cancer pain. Obtained grant funding to expand technology resources for home-based palliative care patients during the COVID pandemic. Has received the LVHN internal medicine residency subspecialty teaching award for the the last 5 years in a row. Was also named one of 40 women in Pennsylvania as a 2022 Above and Beyond Honoree by City and State Magazine.
