Sandra Gomez, MD, FAAHPM
Dr. Gomez is a graduate of the University of Washington School of Medicine and is double boarded in Family Medicine and Palliative Medicine. She regularly lectures on the topics of communication, diversity, and symptom management. She is a former adjunct faculty at MD Anderson Cancer Center and currently sits on the board of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She was instrumental in helping to launch 8 community-based inpatient palliative care programs for Memorial Hermann Health System. Recently during her time at United Healthcare/Wellmed Optum, she helped to develop and integrate several community programs for over 120 thousand Medicare Advantage Beneficiaries in the Houston area. The programs focused on social determinants of health, care management, community health workers, and outpatient palliative care. She is the former National Medical Director of Provider Training and Care Model Innovation for Sage Health, a concierge senior primary care practice focused on Medicare Advantage patients in Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Maryland. Dr. Gomez is currently pursuing her certification as an executive coach through the International Coaching Federation. She lives in Texas on a 10-acre farm with her husband of 22 years and has 5 children ages 9 to 21.
