In-person national event to be held September 15-17 in Philadelphia. Registration open.

The Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC) has announced that its CAPC National Seminar will be held September 15-17, 2025, in Philadelphia, PA at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown. This event marks the return to CAPC’s in-person gathering of health care professionals from across the country for three action-packed days of networking, celebration, and inspiring, practical education to advance high-quality, equitable palliative care.

The CAPC National Seminar, a health care event calendar staple from 2011 to 2019, resumes this fall after a five-year hiatus.

"We are absolutely thrilled to bring the CAPC National Seminar back in person," said Brynn Bowman, chief executive officer of the Center to Advance Palliative Care. "With the urgent challenges facing health care today, there has never been a more critical time to bring the palliative care field together to make meaningful strides in improving care for people living with a serious illness, and their families and caregivers."

Health care professionals from all disciplines and care settings will convene to discuss topics such as leadership development; insights on the health care landscape, including policy, payment, and technology; billing and program financing strategies; workforce well-being; caregiver support; and health equity. Three half-day, intensive pre-conference workshops will focus on leadership, billing, and health equity. View the full agenda.

The speaker lineup includes national leaders and experts in the fields of palliative care, hospice, home-based care, and patient and caregiver advocacy. Keynote speakers include Diane Meier, MD, founder, director emerita, and strategic medical advisor at CAPC; Sachin Jain, MD, MBA, chief executive officer of the SCAN Group and SCAN Health Plan; Allison Applebaum, PhD, researcher, caregiver advocate, and author of Stand By Me: A Guide to Navigating Modern, Meaningful Caregiving; Kimberly Curseen, MD, director, outpatient supportive care at Emory Palliative Care Center; and hosts of the popular GeriPal podcast, Alex Smith, MD, MPH, professor of medicine at UCSF Division of Geriatrics, and Eric Widera, MD, professor of medicine at UCSF and director of hospice and palliative care at the San Francisco VA Medical Center.
