Benefits of Early Palliative Care for Gastrointestinal Malignancies
A study published in JCO Oncology Practice sought to learn more about the early involvement of palliative care for people with advanced gastrointestinal cancer. The researchers, who evaluated data from patients seen at a large community cancer center, found that a small percentage of people with GI malignancies receive outpatient consults. They concluded that this population would benefit from early delivery of palliative care, which would require expanded palliative care services and more.
