Congress Extends Medicare Telehealth Billing Through September 30, 2025
U.S. lawmakers approved a temporary federal budget (also called a “continuing resolution”) that included a number of laws relevant to health care. This includes an extension of the ability to bill Medicare for services delivered via telehealth, at least through September 30; another extension or a more permanent telehealth policy remains a point of advocacy and discussion.
In addition, the Hospital-at-Home program will continue to be allowed Medicare reimbursement, and Medicare rural extenders and Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospital funding continues, all through September 30.
The 2.8% cut in the Medicare conversion factor that went into effect on January 1, 2025 remains in effect despite advocacy to restore payment levels. CAPC will continue to keep its audience posted on Medicare payment rules and legislation as it unfolds.
