Study finds that using PREMs in routine inpatient palliative care helps to identify patient and family concerns and opportunities for improvement.

A study published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management explores the feasibility of using patient-reported experience measures (PREMs) for routine quality measurement in inpatient palliative care. Specifically, it examines how two measures, consideRATE and integRATE, can be used to identify patient and family concerns about care, support service recovery, and identify opportunities for quality improvement based on feedback from patients and families. The findings suggest that these feasible measures are effective and should be considered for other palliative care settings.
