Improving Teamwork in Pediatric Cardiac ICU Pre-Family Meeting Huddles
A study published in Cardiology in the Young, evaluated an interprofessional intervention designed to improve communication and teamwork during pre-family meeting huddles in the pediatric cardiac ICU, which often lack structure and inclusivity. The study demonstrated that implementing the intervention is feasible and acceptable to clinicians, with high retention and training completion rates, and led to significant improvements in team performance across key domains. These findings support the potential of structured huddles to enhance interprofessional-shared decision-making and improve communication with families.
