Study finds that palliative care is underutilized for adults newly diagnosed with heart failure in the United States.

In a study published by the Journal of the American Heart Association, researchers sought to investigate the national use of palliative care for adults with heart failure based on when they received their first consultation and clinical factors. They found that although there's an expanded definition of palliative care and recommendations by multiple professional societies, palliative care is underutilized in people with heart failure. The researchers make multiple recommendations to improve barriers and focus on future work.
