Pediatric Cardiac ICU Intervention to Improve Communication in Family Meetings
Per a study published in Pediatric Cardiology, parents of children in the pediatric intensive care unit (CICU) often feel unprepared for family meetings with their clinicians and experience conflicting information and suboptimal communication about their child's heart disease, negatively impacting decision-making. The study's authors sought to understand if implementing an interprofessional team in the CICU would benefit families and clinicians to help prepare for family meetings. The study found that this intervention led to positive results.
