Risks and Benefits of Palliative Care Specialists Addressing Clinician Distress
A recent special article published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management (JPSM) explores how palliative care specialists are increasingly consulted to address clinician distress in the care of people living with serious illness. The authors examine the risks and benefits of whether managing such distress should be part of palliative care’s responsibility and state that systemic changes are necessary to support the field and the overall workforce.
