The Effect of Specialized Palliative Care on End-of-Life Care Intensity in AYAs with Cancer
Many adolescents and young adults (15-39 years) with cancer continue to receive high-intensity care at the end of life. In a study in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management, authors found a clear benefit to specialized palliative care involvement in reducing care intensity. Access remains challenging and further advocacy is needed. However, it is encouraging that specialized palliative care engagement has increased in recent years.
