The Nexus Between Palliative Care and PACE Programs
Palliative Care News published an article on February 14 describing the integration of palliative care into Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). PACE programs are a combination of health insurers and care providers responsible for the total cost of care for all Medicare and Medicaid benefits. With recent changes to the federal PACE requirements, PACEs must include palliative medicine in their networks at a minimum, but many PACEs go well beyond that to proactively identify participants who can benefit from palliative services and collaborate with community-based palliative care programs to provide for their holistic needs. For more information on how PACE can meet palliative needs and work with palliative care specialists, see the CAPC and National PACE Association Palliative Care Playbook for PACE.
