Caring for Vulnerable Populations with Serious Illness
Overview
When vulnerable populations experience serious illness, the quality of their care is much more likely to be shaped by forces beyond their control: access to care, social support, health literacy, and financial resources. Additionally, the clinical care they receive is often misaligned with their backgrounds, needs and goals. These gaps represent tremendous opportunities to improve the current system of serious illness and end of life care in vulnerable populations. This CAPC webinar will discuss these problems in the context of addressing the following: serving our community’s most vulnerable members living with advanced illness; creating the partnerships we need to provide this care; developing resilience to moral distress and burnout.
