How Palliative Care Can Support Caregivers in Policy and Practice

As state policymakers explore opportunities to better support caregivers and increase access to palliative care, the intersection of these efforts is often overlooked. Caregivers often face isolation, lack information on what to expect, and have limited training on how to meet the needs of their loved ones living with serious illness, and themselves. Palliative care can address these challenges, although more support is needed to expand access to all those in need.

In this panel-based webinar, CAPC is joined by speakers from the National Academy for State Health Policy, National Center for Pediatric Palliative Care Homes, and The John A. Hartford Foundation, to explore the most pressing needs of caregivers; how palliative care can be deployed to meet these needs; and current policy initiatives in both areas. Combining the evidence base with subject matter experts, this webinar will empower state policymakers and champions looking to alleviate caregiver burden through palliative care strategies.
