New exciting opportunity for an ACGME-accredited palliative care interprofessional fellowship program director at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and MedStar Georgetown University Medical School affiliated with Georgetown University School of Medicine. The position includes a faculty appointment at GUSOM commensurate with career experience. Our interprofessional team, including palliative care trained physicians, APPs, pharmacists, social workers, chaplains and other nursing specialists, sees approximately 3,000 patients a year. We are the only safety net hospital in Washington, DC serving significant patient populations with heart failure/LVAD/heart transplant, oncology, gynecology oncology, neurosurgery and other subspecialty needs. Our interprofessional fellowship trains doctors, APPs and social workers. The palliative team is also heavily involved in training of PGY2 palliative pharmacy residents, medical residents and Georgetown University medical students. This is a great opportunity for a medical educator looking to develop an academic career under a teaching or research track, with opportunities in scholarship, clinical ethics, quality/safety and more.
Qualifications: Board-certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Eligible for medical licensure in Washington, DC. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in hospice and palliative care. Demonstrated leadership and administrative skills. Experience leading HPM fellowship program preferred. Recruitment experience of top physician candidates also preferred. Strong commitment to education, mentorship, and academic research. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
