The University of Maryland School of Medicine is seeking an academic palliative medicine physician for our expanding program. Clinical duties will include both inpatient and outpatient activities. Protected time for teaching and research is offered.
The Division of Gerontology, Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine resides in the Department of Medicine and is comprised of a team of 5.5 MDs, 2 NPs, 3 RNs, dedicated Clinical Pharmacist, Chaplain, and Social Worker. In addition, a full-time Program Coordinator and Business Administrator complete the team. The members of the team serve as expert palliative consultants to the UMMC’s multi-disciplinary services, adding an extra layer of support to patients and their families.

Expected faculty rank for this position will be Assistant Professor or higher, however, final rank, tenure status and salary will be commensurate with selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.

The expected salary range for Assistant Professors is $182,937 (min) and $ 274,000 (max). The referenced salary range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. This salary range does not include all components of the departmental faculty compensation program or pay from participation in departmental variable compensation programs. Therefore, the actual compensation paid to the selected candidate may vary from the salary range stated herein. For more information, please contact the hiring department.

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on the University of Maryland School of Medicine’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.

Applicants must possess:
• A medical degree (M.D. or equivalent) from an accredited domestic or international institution.
• Completion of ACGME-accredited training in Internal Medicine or Medicine-Pediatrics.
• Completion of ACGME-accredited fellowship training in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
• Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Maryland.
• Board Certification or Board Eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
• A minimum of five (5) years of post-fellowship clinical experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to education, quality improvement, and collaborative interdisciplinary care.
