Christopher Piromalli, DO, MPH
Dr. Piromalli is a family medicine physician with a certificate of additional qualification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Dr. Piromalli has had an ongoing desire to work with vulnerable and underserved populations throughout his life. This desire was fueled after receiving a Thomas J. Watson fellowship, which took him to India to study whole person care and the role of indigenous medicine in both rural and urban communities. He completed his family medicine training at the Alaska Family Medicine Residency. After residency, Dr. Piromalli served in the Indian Health Service as a full scope family physician and Director of Palliative Care in Zuni, NM. His passion for palliative care and working with indigenous communities led him to complete a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Care at Providence Alaska Medical Center. As a palliative medicine physician, he served as the Palliative Care Medical Director at the Alaska Native Medical Center providing palliative care support across the Alaska Tribal Health System. He currently provides palliative medicine support at Southcentral Foundation as an integrative consultant with a vision to expand primary palliative care across Alaska Native communities. In addition, he is an Associate Professor within the Division of Palliative Medicine at the University of New Mexico serving as the Director of the New Mexico Palliative Care ECHO Program and Global Palliative Care ECHO Partnership.
