Jackelyn Boyden

Jackelyn Boyden, PhD, MPH, RN

Jackelyn Boyden, PhD, MPH, RN is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Health at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Her program of research seeks to advance equitable and high-quality palliative and hospice care for children with serious illness and their families in the home and community setting.

Jackie started her nursing career as a pediatric intensive care nurse and has worked clinically in both acute care and community-based care settings. Jackie received her PhD from Penn in 2020 and completed her post-doc at CHOP in 2022. She is currently funded through the Cambia Health Foundation as a Sojourns Scholar, as well as through the NINR with a K23 career development award. These research projects will design, build, and test a system to support the digital communication of families’ needs between families caring for children at home and their pediatric palliative care clinicians. Additionally, these projects will explore the social determinants of health that impact care at home for children with serious illness and their families.
