Jeanie Youngwerth, MD, FAAHPM
Jeanie Youngwerth is an Associate Professor of Medicine at University of Colorado School of Medicine (UC-SOM), board-certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Dr. Youngwerth completed internal medicine residency at UC-SOM. She has been a palliative medicine physician and hospitalist with the Department of Medicine at UC-SOM since 2004, Director of the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) Palliative Care Service since 2009 and Director of Highlands Ranch Hospital Palliative Care Service since 2020. Dr. Youngwerth was President Elect to the UCH Medical Staff 2021-2022 and currently serving her second term as President. She has been instrumental in leading the UCH palliative care service to providing the highest quality of clinical care, recognized nationally in achieving Joint Commission Advanced Certification in Palliative Care since 2013, awarded the American Hospital Association Circle of Life Award in 2019, and received special recognition for Beyond the Call of Duty for COVID-19 from the International Hospital Federation in 2020. Dr. Youngwerth is the Associate Program Director of the Colorado Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program and Director of the Palliative Care Curriculum at UC-SOM. In addition, she was a medical director for community hospice and palliative care programs for 15 years. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Youngwerth enjoys mountain biking.
