Susan Wang, MD, FAAHPM, HMDC

Susan Elizabeth Wang, MD, FAAHPM, HMDC is the national leader for Dignified Journeys and Palliative Care at Kaiser Permanente (KP), where she supports the implementation of a high-quality ecosystem for the care of people with serious illness. Dr. Wang is also regional chief of the Department of Geriatrics & Palliative Medicine in KP Southern California where she oversees 160 physicans and care teams across 16 hospitals. She is the regional hospice medical director for an agency with an average daily census of 1000 patients. She has served as Medical Director of Life Care Planning & Serious Illness Care for over a decade, working with medical specialties, primary care, hospital, and surgery to integrate shared decision-making across clinical care.

Dr. Wang is the Founding Director Emeritus of the KP Los Angeles Hospice & Palliative Medicine fellowship. She is an associate professor at the KP School of Medicine and has dozens of publications and research grants. She also serves as vice chair of the Coalition for Compassionate Care of California.
