About the Art

Folding the Prism by Jessie and Katey

As you walk down the streets of Philadelphia, you will notice the larger-than-life murals on walls and other public spaces that make up the city’s landscape. This public art is an important part of the city’s DNA, much of it fueled by Mural Arts Philadelphia, a nonprofit and public art program that connects artists and communities to create art that transforms public spaces and individual lives. In their words, “We believe that art ignites change.” This inspired our impact words for the 2025 National Seminar, “Build and Connect.” Palliative care teams do this every day: with patients, families, teams, organizational leadership, communities, and more.

Incorporating artwork from one of the murals into the look and feel of the Seminar helps us connect more intentionally to our host city. “Folding the Prism” by Jessie Unterhalter and Katey Truhn (Jessie and Katey) is full of bold, bright colors, patterns, and woven textiles. To CAPC, they symbolize our diverse community coming back together for this event after a long hiatus.

You can view the mural on 12th and Spring Garden Streets in Philadelphia’s Center City, a short walk or bus ride from the Seminar hotel.
